Tips

Tips on QTube are non-custodial on-chain transfers between wallets. QTube never holds tip funds.

How tips work

Tips are currently enabled on this deployment. When tipping is available, an authenticated tipper with a linked wallet on the matching chain can send a real on-chain transfer to a creator. QTube records a tip intent and verifies the transaction on-chain.

SAIKO can be tipped wherever Ethereum wallet and chain compatibility allow. A community’s own token can also be tipped when that community’s tip asset is enabled. Supported chains currently include Ethereum (EVM) and Solana.

  1. The tipper chooses an amount and, when more than one asset is available, a tip asset.
  2. QTube creates a tip intent and records the expected transfer details.
  3. The tipper signs and broadcasts the transfer from their own wallet.
  4. QTube verifies the transaction against those expected details.

What you can tip

Tips can target:

  • Published videos
  • Community Posts
  • Comments and replies

A published video is not required to receive a tip on a discussion or reply. The tip goes to the author of that content.

Wallet connection

  • Tippers must be signed in and have a linked wallet on the chain of the selected tip asset.
  • An Ethereum wallet is used for SAIKO and other Ethereum tip assets.
  • A Solana wallet is used for Solana community-token tips.
  • Creators must link a receivable wallet on Account for the chain they want to receive on.
  • Wallet linking uses a signed ownership proof. Private keys stay in the user’s wallet.

Compatible browser wallets and WalletConnect sessions are supported. Solana linking uses Wallet Standard–compatible wallets; it is not limited to a single vendor. A wallet is not required merely to browse, watch, or read public content.

Manage wallet association on the Account page. Contract verification and buy links for SAIKO are on Buy SAIKO.

Eligible creators and content

Tips can be sent only when:

  • Tips are enabled on the platform
  • The target content is eligible (a published video with tips enabled, or a visible discussion post, comment, or reply)
  • The author has a linked wallet with tip receiving enabled on the matching chain
  • The selected tip asset is allowed for that content (SAIKO where compatible, and/or the community token when that tip asset is enabled)

Sensitive videos may also require holder access before tip controls are available, depending on current holder-gate settings.

Non-custodial transfers

QTube does not custody tip funds, does not operate tip balances or escrow for tips, and cannot move tokens out of a user’s wallet. Tips are peer-to-peer on-chain transfers that QTube records and verifies.

Because transfers are on-chain, network fees, wallet software, and transaction confirmation times are outside QTube’s custody model.
